Houston Museum of Natural Science Went Viral

The Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) was one chosen to showcase the world-famous Exhibition for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. HMNS quickly realized that while the exhibit was expected to generate a great deal of interest, it didn’t have a lot of appeal for their core audience. The success of the exhibition, therefore, would rest in how it was marketed.

The houston Museum of Natural Science quickly called in Spur Digital to help reach the targeted demographic audience and generate interest in the Exhibit. HMNS was, also, hoping to acquire new patrons and members to further their future revenue.

Spur digital worked with HMNS to identify the target market for the campaign and developed an integrated online media plan to reach those audiences. The campaign featured an online contest that was marketed through targeted online media outlets including relevant Web sites, Search Engines and third party E-mail lists. Viral marketing was an important component of the campaign, so Spur developed an innovative strategy to get people to refer their friends.

Spur identified the target audience as males 18 to 34 years old who were fans of action and fantasy films, frequent video game players and movie renters, tech-savvy who generally didn’t hang out at museums. Based on this information, Spur chose search engine advertisements that would accompany specific search words, dedicated e-mail advertisements, sponsored e-mail advertisements, banner ads on web sites targeted toward the desired audience, and e-mails to the HMNS list.

Did it work? You bet! The results were excellent. The impact of the viral marketing effort was astounding - over 23% of registrants came originated from the Tell-A-Friend feature. The direct marketing efforts yielded impressive results as well. In total, the 12 week, locally-targeted online campaign yielded more than 2 million targeted impressions, 40,000 unique visits, almost 12,000 and 6,000 invitations sent by friends at a cost per action of less than $3.00. These contributed to the record attendance of almost 100,000 over 3 months.

House Hunting In Houston , Texas

Everyone comes from a different type of experience which affects the type of home you choose. As you begin looking at new apartments in Houston make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to visit the apartments and tour the neighborhood community as well.

Although it may seem like a simple process, apartments come in a large variety of styles to accommodate different types of people. If you are clear about the type of apartment you want to rent, it will save you a lot of time and money.
Houston is a big city and there are several high rise apartment building that offer attractive rents. These types of communities offer a diverse cultural environment and are usually very busy simply because of the number of people living there.
If you are a busy individual this may be perfect for you, while for a person who prefers a calmer atmosphere around their apartment will be miserable. Pay attention to your personality as well as your budget to find the perfect new home.
Many people are so focused on looking at an apartment for the features that they want that they sometimes do not see some very important features that will be just as important to their quality of life in their new home. For instance, you may find an apartment rental with extra large rooms, but the walls are paper thin, or the apartment building has a pool, but there is also a resident that makes unwanted advances.
It is a good idea to check and see if the apartments that you have in mind are listed on the apartment review websites. On these sites you will find first hand accounts from tenants; many times you will find that an apartment complex that you thought was a great place to live, is not such a good place to live.
Weather is a factor everywhere you live, but you should be aware of any conditions that may affect your lifestyle. If you rent an apartment in a two family home and there is a flood, what are your rights as a tenant?
Or if you live in a Houston apartment complex, who is the person in charge of maintenance and how do you contact them in case there is a plumbing or electrical problem? Before you sign a lease for any apartment rental, make sure you understand what you are responsible for, i.e., garbage disposal and what the management or owner is responsible for, i.e., repairs to you apartment due to a hurricane.
Although renting your apartment is a business transaction, it is not the same as your relationship with your bank; you will be spending a lot of time in your apartment on a daily basis so it is important for you to be sure that you get good value for your money.
Make a note of the included services that are available where you live now and the services you would like your new apartment to possess. Use this as a means to judge which apartment rental is best for you, you want to improve your situation or at the minimum keep the status quo, not take a step backward.

Austin, Houston

According to internet search inquiries on the Yahoo network, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio Texas each made the top 10 cities searched for the month of December. Based on that simple fact, Texas is definitely hot (both literally and figuratively.) Of the top ten markets queried on the Yahoo network, over 516,000 of them were for cities in the state of Texas — that’s over 36% of those searches.

Granted, Texas, as well as many states in warm climates are typically searched for far more often in winter months. In fact, 9 of the top-10 cities searched in December are in warm climates. (The only exception was Chicago Illinois — and it came in 10th.) Regardless, the simple fact that 3 Texas cities made the “top ten list” for December, and represented over 36 percent of those searches, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess that Texas real estate is on the move.

According to Kate Morton of the Austin American Statesman, “Central Texas home builders have been offering plenty of year-end discounts and bonuses to boost sales, but that doesn’t mean that the Austin area housing market is cooling or that prices are falling. Strong job growth, a steady influx of new residents and relatively affordable prices have kept the austin housing market strong, even as markets on the East and West coasts faltered. That isn’t likely to change in the coming year.” This article, along with many others like it, have likely spurred interest in the Texas market across the nation. Pair that with the fact that Austin, houston and San Antonio are 3 great metro areas of texas, and it’s not hard to figure out why Texas has been such a popular area.

If you’re debating investing in Texas real estate, the fact that over half a million people were thinking likewise in the month of December is certainly a sign that Texas real estate just might be a good investment in 2007. Be sure to consult with your Texas real estate agent for real estate information in the area you’re thinking of buying in. Cheap Car Insurance In Texas

Many factors can make the search for cheap car insurance in Texas a rough one. A lapse in coverage, a less than stellar driving record - they all add up. If you’re having difficulty finding cheap car insurance in texas, consider looking into the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association. The Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association allows you to obtain the basic Texas liability coverage, personal injury coverage, and even uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.

The downside to the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association is you’ll likely be charged higher rates than you would be charged by your everyday car insurance company. The upside is Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association provides you with car insurance you wouldn’t otherwise have been able to obtain. Without car insurance or some form of proof of financial responsibility in Texas, you’re driving illegally which brings consequences.

In Texas, if you’re caught driving without insurance or some form of proof of financial responsibility, you will be fined anywhere from $175 to $350 - and that’s just your first offense. If you’re caught a second time, you will pay a higher fine, and if there is a third offense, not only will you pay an even higher fine than the first and second offenses, but you also risk having your driver license suspended. Plus, you will be given a ticket for a surchargeable violation. A ticket. Sounds like no big deal, right? Wrong. In Texas, a surchargeable violation means you can be charged more than once for the violation, i.e., you’ll have to pay a fine for that violation once a year for up to three years.

So, looking to the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association for cheap car insurance in Texas may not give you cheaper car insurance rates than standard car insurance companies, but it will give you a cheaper bill than you will get if you’re caught driving without car insurance or proof of financial responsibility.

Houston Astros Tickets - Will 2007 Be “The” Year?

Houston Astros tickets have been a hot item in recent years for several reasons, and those include seeing one of the most innovative ballparks in professional sports, watching the great Roger Clemens pitch, seeing the Astros put up monster offensive numbers and finding out if the team can finally break through for their first World Series title. They’ve been knocking on the door in recent years, and below we’ll take a look at how their roster shapes up as the Astros continue to chase their first championship.

Offseason Changes

It’s been an offseason of change for the Astros, and that starts with the departure of one of the franchise’s icons with the retirement of Jeff Bagwell. Bagwell will be missed, but the Astros also added a lot to their team, including free agents Carlos Lee, a power-hitting OF, and pitcher Woody Williams, who came over from the Padres. The Astros also swung a trade that brought them pitchers Jason Jennings and Miguel Asencio from the Colorado Rockies, which will add to their overall depth. Overall, the Astros will have a different look on the field, but some of these changes were completely necessary.

Players to Watch

There are several players who will be worth the effort of obtaining Houston Astros tickets. Lee will be intriguing, as he has become one of the most feared sluggers in baseball, but now he has to live up to his gargantuan contract. Bagwell’s unofficial partner in crime, Craig Biggio, is returning for another season and the batting order is also solid with the likes of Lance Berkman, who had a huge year in 2006 and Willy Taveras. On the mound, Brad Lidge and Roy Oswalt will team with their new hurlers to form a respectable if not dominant rotation.

2007 Outlook

The Astros have put together a talented roster that should address their defensive and pitching weaknesses from last season, but the reality is that they sit in one of the toughest divisions in baseball. Not only will the Astros have to contend with the World Series champion Cardinals, but the Brewers are on their way up and the Reds appear ready to break out as well.

If the Astros can get better play in the field and stay healthy, they have every reason to think they can contend. It wasn’t long ago that the Astros were on the cusp of that first championship, and houston Astros tickets for games in 2007 could be a chance to see an historic team by the time it’s all said and done.

How accepting is the University of Texas at Austin with other cultures?

I absolutely love the University of texas and I am thinking of applying there. I am from Massachusetts and have heard that Texas isn’t known for accepting African Americans. I am Bi-Racial and grew up in an all white household and all of my friends are white, my mom is kind of nervous about sending me to a school where there is a lot of racial tension. I told her that there is a lot of southern hospitality, is this true or is there a lot of racial tension at the school.

UTs pretty friendly. Like all colleges, people of the same race tend to stick together. Only bad thing is that there aren’t that many blacks there, maybe around 5% of the student body. But overall, the school’s pretty accepting of others and their cultures and beliefs.

Honestly, you’d probably be better off at another school.
a. UT doesn’t accept a lot of Out-of-Staters and doesn’t offer them that good of Financial Aid
b. If you have the stats to get in, you can probably also get into a lot of very good schools, such as Vandy, Rice, Emory, UVa, and maybe even Duke, which will probably offer better Financial Aid.
c. UT is 90%+ Texan, so you might feel out-of-place or isolated your first semester or two.

Texas A

For many years, Texas A&M Aggies basketball tickets have been nothing more than an afterthought in College Station. Texas A&M was always a football school, and little else mattered much at all. However, the culture in the area is beginning to turn, and the Aggies are providing fans plenty of reasons to go to games against their Big 12 rivals. As hard as it is to believe, local fans are realistically dreaming of a run to the Final Four, and below we’ll look at a few reasons why that’s the case.

Coaching

Simply put, Billy Gillispie is a coaching star. He was hired to run the program at Texas A&M in 2004, and the team hadn’t had a winning season since 1994 before he arrived. To make matters worse, the Aggies were coming off a dismal season in which they posted a record of 7-21 under previous coach Melvin Watkins.

Gillespie immediately restored respect to the program, winning 21 games in his first season and advancing to the quarterfinals of the NIT, which was the first postseason appearance by the Aggies in more than a decade. Gillispie also drummed up interest in Texas A&M Aggies basketball tickets by refusing to make the excuses that had long existed under previous regimes, namely that Texas A&M was a “football school,” that they “didn’t have the support from the administration” and many other issues that he quickly dismissed.

Talent

Gillispie isn’t just a leader and a tremendous game coach, but he can recruit as well. He was one of the first coaches in Aggie Land to aggressively pursue top-flight recruits, and that pursuit paid off several times. He added talented current players such as Joseph Jones, Josh Carter and Donald Sloan, and each of these players turned down “bigger” programs to come and play in College Station.

Gillispie is building a pipeline for recruiting in texas and beyond, and that’s making the folks in austin and Lubbock very nervous indeed. The more Texas A&M wins, the more credibility Gillispie and his program gain, and the snowball effect will take over from there.

What it all Means

This season is not a one-year wonder. The Aggies have posted three consecutive 20-win seasons, and they’re currently ranked in the Top Ten in both major college basketball polls. Their recruiting for next year looks very promising, and their young team is still getting better. What this all means is that folks better get their Texas A&M Aggies basketball tickets now, as they’ll become even harder to find in the very near future.
